This is about the vision of augmenting environments, mostly turning the environment into something more dynamic using walls, but also ceilings, floors or objects as screens. This is an applied form of [[Everything that can be digital will be]] & [[Ambient Computing]]. Usually [[Future Vision]] videos for [[Ambient Computing]] are full of environments that show digital information somehow on walls, windows and so on. It's also related to [[Flexible Screens]], however this looks at full environment concepts, not at devices / individual things. ## Non-screen screens in environments [Philips / Color Kinetics Luminous Textile](https://www.colorkinetics.com/global/luminous-textiles) Luminous Textile is a configurable, high-quality, and unique lighting system that integrates multi-colored LEDs seamlessly within beautiful fabric panels that also soften sound. There's python code for drawing bitmaps to the display from Python. We are looking to maybe make some projects with this kind of display. It seems to have the same exact 'pinout' as other E-Ink displays we've seen. There are 7 colors - white, black, red, orange, green, blue, purple and they're a little watercolor-y which is a nice effect. Images must be dithered because you cannot 'mix' colors in E-Ink displays, only display one of the 7 available colors per pixel.
